How To Spot A Fake Luxury Watch

“When you’re looking at potential counterfeit watches, you have to inform yourself as to what a real one is like,” Gordon told Business Insider. “You need to know what it feels like, looks like, how much it weighs, and what it sounds like.”

“Look for an established dealer with a good reputation,” Gordon said. “Buying a watch from a reputable business that’s more expensive is always better than buying a cheaper version from an untrustworthy merchant.”

The James Douglas Morrison Estate
We were in Cloud Nine, California, thrilled and most proud to be appraising the original papers and writings of Jim Morrison…those he left behind at his death in Paris in 1971. The material is staggering…the genius of the man has yet to be revealed. It’s all beyond words to read his thousands of writings and private thoughts, and to be one of the first truly inside of his mind.

Inspecting a helmet from the Tower of London Collection
This British soldier’s helmet was made in the 1600′s for the English Civil War and was kept in the armory of the Tower of London.  It was later sold  by the Crown (in the 1800′s) to raise funds for the restoration of the Tower.  Asha MacDonald is shown here inspecting the helmet for research on the London armourer’s  hallmark.  After some study, I believe  it to be S.K. for Sylvester Keene.

17 Carat Diamond “Tuesday” Ring
A recent appraisal for sale.  This beauty was called the “Tuesday” ring by my client’s father who owned a much loved restaurant and bar.  My client fondly recalled his father wearing his favorite blazer, worn shoes, stained with lemon juice from mixing drinks and this ring on the second day of every work week

The Face of a Culture
We spent December appraising 5,000 original Native American images from a Montana tribe. These are the priceless visual identity of one people, dating from 1860 – 1960. Without this visual image, 100 years of history would have been buried.
